Llandudno... Crowned The Number One OAP Retirement Resort A New Study Claims!

This survey and title are nothing to be proud of. The population is already weighed heavily on Older People, and the NHS and Gp surgeries here are struggling.

So young people cannot afford to buy yet they are slapping up these awful flats like the Madoc Flats in Rhos On Sea and so many others, and locals can't even afford to buy them,

Something needs to be done to deter this not encourage it.

A REPORT from a personal alarm provider taking care of Personal Alarms has rated Llandudno as the best UK town or city for people to retire to.

Following audits across a range of cost, health, and lifestyle factors, the seaside town claimed the top spot thanks to the elevated quality of life it offers to people aged 65 or older.

Analysis of average life expectancy, house prices, annual care costs as well as a cumulative lifestyle score based on the total green spaces, English Heritage sites, fish and chip shops, and bingo halls were used to compile a list.

The top 10 were as follows:

1. Llandudno, Wales (75.3/100)

2. Glossop, East Midlands (73.6/100)

3. Southport, North West (71.8/100)

4. Ramsbottom, North West (71/100)

5. Saffron Walden, East England (69.7/100)

6. Tynemouth, North East (67.1/100)

7. Ilfracombe, South West (66.4/100)

8. Bradford, Yorkshire and the Humber (63.6/100)

9. Falmouth, South West (62.1/100)

10. Alresford, South East (61.8/100)

Louise Yasities, the home safety expert at taking care, said: “As we get older, we find new things become more important to us.

“Moving somewhere that is not only a fantastic place to live but will also provide the services needed to look after you as you get older is crucial for the 65 plus age demographic.

“We’ve crunched the numbers to evaluate these considerations and have developed this list of the best places in the UK for people to retire to; from bingo halls to the number of care homes for every older person, we’ve left no stone unturned to find the best destinations for our older population.

“As average life expectancy increases, it’s more important than ever to empower older people to live happily and independently at home for as long as possible, and the data points we’ve analyzed in this report address these.”
