Llandudno...'Helpless' man attacked in Starbucks coffee shop left battered and bruised!

I don't think that Llandudno is safe at night anymore, there are always fights and assaults happening!

And why are some men so insecure?

Coffee shop customers were stunned when a dad violently attacked another man he believed had been harassing his partner. Joseph Morgan, of West Shore in Llandudno, appeared before Mold Crown Court having admitted to assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm.

Prosecuting Rosemary Proctor told the court how, on February 6 last year, he was walking along Mostyn Street in Llandudno when he encountered Martin Klosowski. Initially believing that the defendant was lost in the town, Mr Klosowski exchanged a few words before Morgan punched him "hard" in the face, knocking him backward.

He tried to run away, the court heard, and sought to hide in a nearby Starbucks but was followed by the enraged 40-year-old who launched an all-out attack. CCTV was played to the judge that depicted Mr. Klosowski being floored by the defendant who launched a barrage of kicks and punches whilst telling him to "stay away from his girlfriend" before staff members managed to stop the assault.

A trip to A&E confirmed that the victim was left with a fractured eye socket along with a wealth of bruises. This left Mr. Klosowski having trouble sleeping and he continues to avoid the town center coffee shop due to the bad memories of that afternoon.

A week later, on February 13, Morgan handed himself into the Llandudno police station. When interviewed, he told officers that he was acting on information he "genuinely believed" from his partner that she was "frightened of and being harassed" by the victim.

Defending Maria Masellis said her client accepts his behavior on the video was "completely disproportionate and unjustified". She added that his actions were "totally out of character" as he isn't someone who "routinely goes out looking for trouble".

Ms. Masellis said locking up Morgan, a dad-of-one, would no doubt have a "devastating" impact on his young son who he has regular contact with and supports financially. She said he'd likely lose his job and home as a result of a prison sentence.

Judge Rhys Rowlands imposed a 10-month custodial sentence after witnessing the attack that was caught on camera. He also granted a three-year-long restraining order, banning him from approaching the victim.

He said: "You believed he [Mr. Klosowski] had been harassing your girlfriend, that's the reason you attacked him. Much of what you did has been captured on CCTV and culminates with you, in front of Starbucks customers, punching and kicking him whilst helpless on the floor.

"You had been drinking, having had three pints beforehand. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the background, there was a clear degree of premeditation on your part, seeking to punish [Mr Klosowski] for what you perceived to be his behavior towards your girlfriend."
