Llandudno...Armed police descended on Deganwy Avenue after reports of man with gun in a window!

The overall crime rate in Llandudno in 2023 was 113 crimes per 1,000 people.8 Apr 2024) From Crime Rate UK   Armed police were spotted on a Llandudno Street on Tuesday. At about midday around six armed officers were seen moving towards a property in the Deganwy Avenue area.

North Wales Police confirmed they were called to the scene and an air rifle, which was "legally held" was voluntarily handed over. There was "no danger to the public", the force said.

Video footage shows one armed officer, with a shield in front, cautiously approaching what appears to be a fenced off area of a property. Another officer is seen behind him with a gun trained on the property, before another two are seen behind them as they approach. An officer with a dog is also seen coming onto the property, while at the other end of the street, another policeman is seen standing keeping watch. The armed officers are then seen coming back towards the street.

A person who wished to remain anonymous said: "There were around six armed officers. It was strange because everything seemed normal, with pedestrians walking by and then there were these armed officers approaching a property. There were also police dogs there."

North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10.52am yesterday (Tuesday), reporting what was believed to be a male in possession of a firearm in the window of a property on Deganwy Avenue, Llandudno.

"Armed Alliance officers attended alongside the local policing team to ensure the safety of the community, and a legally held air rifle was voluntarily handed over.
