Just where haven't the boys in blue made drug arrests in this area? Drugs cause a beaucoup of problems, and as soon as they take out one dealer or supplier another just steps in. One of the old chief constables wanted to de-criminalize drugs, The thing is something needs to change, apart from the huge cost to victims of crime by drug users, there are the court costs, manpower and prison, all thrown in! This money could be spent on other things, rather than drugs if there was another option! Thoughts? TWO arrests were made in connection with class A drug supply at Colwyn Bay and Llandudno railway stations as part of a UK-wide operation last week.
British Transport Police’s County Lines Taskforce (CLTF) arrested 69 people and seized just almost £85,000 during a national County Lines “week of action” across England, Scotland and Wales.
At Colwyn Bay and Llandudno railway stations, there were:
- 15 stop and accounts, five stop and searches, and five intelligence reports.
- A 30-year-old man arrested for possession with intent to supply cocaine.
- An 18-year-old woman arrested for being concerned in the supply of a class A drug.
- Seized items, including an unknown quantity of class A drugs, a drug line phone, and £400.
- Visits to three “cuckooed” addresses for welfare checks.
As part of the enhanced activity during national County Lines Intensification Week, which ran from June 23-29, a total 48 operations were conducted across the railway network.
The operations featured uniformed and plain-clothes officers, dogs trained in passive drug detection, and metal detection arches.
British Transport Police detective superintendent David Udomhiaye said: “Doubling down on County Lines gangs and escalating our efforts in the war against exploitation is a priority for us.
“Through our work with colleagues from other forces we pool our wealth of resources and target our operations to actively disrupt criminal activity, making a significant dent in their enterprises
“Thanks to our eagle-eyed Taskforce officers we have safeguarded numerous individuals both adults and children, offering them a way out from the grip of these evil gangs.
“We’ve also removed deadly weapons from the rail network and prevented huge hauls of drugs from entering our communities.
“Alongside this we’ve gained valuable intelligence that will ultimately lead to the demise of several County Lines.
“Our County Lines taskforce works across the rail network every day of the year. Just because you can’t see us doesn’t mean we’re not there.
“We encourage anyone to report any signs of child exploitation or any concerns to us by discretely texting 61016. Any information can help lead to the capture of those responsible.”
