Llandudno...Two left with ‘superficial’ burns after gas explosion!

I am glad no one was seriously hurt, but I have to say I hate campers vans and I am sick of the sight of them.

AN explosion in Llandudno this morning (July 22) left two people with what North Wales Fire and Rescue (NWFRS) referred to as “superficial burns”.

Two NWFRS crews attended the incident on Trinity Avenue, Llandudno at 6.25am, after a camping gas canister ignited in a caravan and flashed as the two people lit their cooking stove.

An NWFRS spokesperson said: “Two people sustained superficial burns in their campervan this morning when their camping gas canister ignited and flashed over as they lit their cooking stove.

“It is believed there had been gas leak either when changing the gas bottles or from a damaged gas pipe.”

The Fire service has issued a message advising campers to ventilate their campervan/caravan if they can smell gas after changing a gas bottles before lighting their cookers, and ensure that regular checks are carried out on gas pipes to make sure they are not bent or damaged.

  1. And this is why they should not be allowed to park up on public roads, at least on an official campsite they are contained and controlled , normally spaced well apart , not amongst pedestrians and within feet of other vehicles
