Well done to Janet, it is clear that herself and Darren Millar are two of the very few people that speak up against what is happening in our communities, whilst others hide in the shadows and do nothing. She is spot on with this, it si getting so bad that teachers are scared in school, even in primary schools, something needs to be done and urgently. Violence and significant misbehaviour incidents in schools in Wales have more than doubled in the last three years.
Authorities received 6,446 reports of violent incidents from schools in 2023–2024, an increase from 4,714 the previous year.
A NASUWT survey found that 79 per cent of respondents said verbal and physical abuse from pupils had had an impact on their morale.
In addition, 65 per cent reported higher stress levels, while 55 per cent said the abuse had led them to consider leaving the profession.
The latest figures show that just over 1,000 teachers left the profession in 2023, up from 756 in 2022, 603 in 2021 and 414 in 2020.Commenting after speaking out on the need to improve behaviour in schools, Janet Finch-Saunders MS said: "I wish to praise all school staff for the work they undertake in sometimes uncertain and dangerous environments.
"The evidence is clear that violence, verbal and physical abuse, and bad pupil behaviour is on the increase.
"Almost all staff enter the education sector to inspire and nurture pupils.
"For them to be facing such challenges and low morale is deeply wrong.
"We all want our schools to be safe places for all." From.....https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/25131534.janet-finch-saunders-speaks-violence-welsh-schools/
