Its happening everywhere, thank goodness people don't have guns like in the USA!
Firearm vs. Knife Statistics USA- Gun Violence: Firearms are the primary mechanism for homicides in the U.S., with gun homicide rates averaging around 5.2 deaths per 100,000 people. The U.S. has one of the highest rates of firearm ownership and gun-related deaths among developed nations.
- Knife Violence: Knives and cutting instruments account for an average of 1,600 to 1,800 homicides annually, averaging around 0.5 deaths per 100,000 people,
In the UK, knife crime is significantly more prevalent than gun crime. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for England and Wales, police recorded over 50,000 offences involving a knife or sharp instrument annually, compared to fewer than 5,000 offences involving firearms. [1]
The difference between both types of weapon-related offenses is notable:- Knife Crime: Makes up the vast majority of weapon-related assaults. There are typically more than 50,000 recorded incidents a year. While overall figures have trended down recently, knife homicides still account for a substantial portion of UK murder victims, and attacks in schools have been a growing public concern. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Gun Crime: Firearms are strictly regulated in the UK, making them much less accessible. Gun offenses are generally less than 10% the volume of knife offenses (around 4,800 a year) and predominantly involve crimes where a gun is used as a threat rather than fired
