Old Colwyn man jailed for sex offences against two victims!

 

Shocking, what can you say other than I hope the victims can move forwards after he is jailed.

A man from Old Colwyn has been jailed for sex offences against two victims. Vishnu Remadevi was sentenced this week for "disturbing case" as police praised the victims for their "bravery".

A North Wales Police West Conwy Coastal statement yesterday (Friday) said: "A 39 year old man from Old Colwyn has been jailed after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences.

"In November last year, officers were informed of an alleged sexual assault at a residential property. Whilst the victim was giving their report, it transpired that the person who had come along to support them was also the subject of various offences at the hands of the same man, including assault, rape and physical and mental abuse, including having their mobile phone tracked.

"Detectives arrested and charged Vishnu Remadevi with Rape, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, threatening with a bladed article, intentional strangulation, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

"Throughout the investigation Vishnu denied all offences and even claimed that the two victims were colluding against him.

"On the first day of his trial, Remadevi pleaded guilty, and yesterday he was sentenced to 11 years six months in prison."

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Constable Catherine Farrington added: “This was a disturbing case where Remadevi carried out a series of serious offences over a sustained period of time.

“I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victims for coming forward, despite the prospect of having to give evidence in Court. I hope they feel vindicated and that the sentence will give them some comfort.

“Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a force priority and we always take any such reports seriously.
