To be honest, this area is a rough area of the town, and the Graffiti goes all along the railway line and has been done for years.
Gangs of drinkers and Yobs hang out down there at night and on weekends so if removed it will all be back within days.
GRAFFITI in an area of Rhos-on-Sea is to be cleared up after a resident branded it "shocking" and called for urgent action.
The resident, who asked not to be identified, said a stop needed to be put to the vandalism on Upper Promenade, towards Chatsworth Close.
The responsibility for cleaning the graffiti rests with the Welsh Government's North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency, who have said the graffiti will be cleared this month.
A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “We will be undertaking a graffiti removal/cover-up at this location this month, and will continue to monitor the situation following the completion of this work.”
Though the resident lives on nearby Crossley Road, Chatsworth Close is on their route to the shops and called for a ban on spray paint being sold to under-18s.
The resident said: “At the top of Upper Promenade towards Chatsworth Close in Rhos-on-Sea, the graffiti has become shocking and is spreading up the steps and across the bridge.
“I live in Crossley Road, and Chatsworth Close is on my route to the shops.
“Obviously, the perfect outcome would be that Conwy Council, or perhaps people doing community service, cleaned it off, CCTV installed, regular patrols by PCSOs, and the culprits caught and punished.
“On Monday (September 5), I found cans of hair color spray, so they are not just using paint.
“No sales of spray paint to under-18s need to be enforced, but of course, they are using hair color spray as an alternative.
Conwy County Borough Council’s Environment, Roads and Facilities team received a report of graffiti at Chatsworth Close on May 10, described as being “on the wall both on the flat and up the steps over the railway bridge”.
The resident added: “I thought I would report it to Conwy County Borough Council – it was reported in May and clearly, it has not been dealt with.
“I felt really sorry for the residents I spoke to. I don’t live there but was just passing through after doing some shopping.
“It’s a complete mess and it’s getting worse; it really needs to be stopped.
“The council should remove it or get the community service guys to do it.”
Cllr John Roberts, of the Rhiw ward in which the streets are situated, condemned the graffiti and has also contacted Environment, Roads, and Facilities about the issue.
He urged any witnesses to such incidents to contact the police and council.
Cllr Roberts said: “I have contacted the Environment, Roads and Facilities department of the council, who are attending to the matter.
"Graffiti is very unpleasant and the people responsible have no respect for property or their community.
"I would urge anyone who witnesses these acts of anti-social behavior to report them to the police and the council immediately."
