Llandudno..."Nothing being done' about litter outside woman's property"!

To be honest it's like this in most of Llandudno, Rhos, Colwyn, Rhyl, and Wrexham, monthly bin collections are the cause and nothing more.

A WOMAN in Rhos-on-Sea has repeatedly been left to deal with huge amounts of litter outside her property in Rhos-on-Sea.

23-year-old Casey Smith has had to contend with “absolutely disgusting” amounts of litter near the entrance to her home on Everard Road for several weeks.

Casey lives in private flats that do not dispose of rubbish in bins near the alleyway of 2 Everard Road, said she has to see the waste all over the ground every time she leaves the property.

The first time it happened, she even cleaned it up, and despite complaining to the council, was told that due to the alleyway being private land, the matter rested with those living in adjacent flats by Fortune House takeaway.

However, rubbish has continuously spilled onto the pavement and road, which is public land.

“These bins have nothing to do with me and I walk out to dirty nappies etc - it is vile,” Casey said.

“It’s absolutely disgusting I have to live here and I walk out of my flat to see this once again.”

Casey said the problem is attracting rats and seagulls “24/7”, and that the sight of it was making her “sick”, with “nothing getting done”.

She told the Pioneer: “The first time this happened I went and cleaned it up and I’ve complained twice now to the council and they said they can’t touch it.

“It’s just causing rats and seagulls 24/7 - I’m absolutely sick of it and nothing is getting done.

“My flats are private so those bins have nothing to do with me.

“I’m only 23 and I’m walking out to this, it makes me sick.”

The county council said they were aware of issues at the site, that they had cleaned up the area and were “monitoring” the situation.

A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the issues at this location.

“There is no excuse for littering and fly-tipping and residents should not have to tolerate this type of behaviour by a small minority of irresponsible people.

“Our street cleansing team has been to Everard Road with litter pickers and a sweeper to clear the mess on the pavement, and are monitoring the area.”
