Llandudno ...North Wales PCC Andy Dunbobbin joins patrol to reduce incidents of antisocial behaviour (ASB) in the town.

A big thank you to Janet Finch Saunders for speaking out on this, it was very clear to those of us living in the town that these feral yobs were causing mayhem, however they still need to tackle the major drug problems in the town. But will their hard work have an impact on the problems? Time will tell .The North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) recently visited Llandudno to hear how work by the neighbourhood policing team was helping to reduce incidents of antisocial behaviour (ASB) in the town.

Andy Dunbobbin visited the North Wales town ahead of Neighbourhood Policing Week, which began yesterday, Monday, June 23, to see the work being done by the neighbourhood policing team.

He spent time on patrol with PC Jonathan Williams through areas including Craig-y-Don, the Promenade, Mostyn Street, Church Walks, the Hospital Estate, and the Trecreuddyn Estate.

Mr Dunbobbin said: "I am pleased to support Neighbourhood Policing Week and the local teams who work so hard to keep us all safe. "Llandudno is the Queen of Welsh Resorts and I am determined that it should remain as crime-free as possible during its busiest months of the year.

"During my visit, I was pleased to hear about all the projects already underway in the town to cut crime and look forward to them continuing to have a positive effect over the months to come."

The policing team shared updates on a series of ongoing initiatives aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, particularly among young people.

These include high-visibility patrols in areas with higher reports of youth-related incidents and regular multi-agency meetings to address emerging trends.

North Wales Police are also working with councillors, political representatives, and the broader community with the aim of gathering intelligence and improving communication, including through the West Conwy Coastal Facebook page.

A new Clear Hold Build Tasking Team, modelled after schemes in Rhyl and Bangor, was launched in Llandudno in May and is set to grow to eight members by the end of June.

Inspector Mathew Kelly-Smith of North Wales Police said: "We are pleased that PCC Dunbobbin was able to visit and hear about the many initiatives underway in Llandudno to combat ASB and other forms of crime.

"Summer is a busy time for a prime resort like Llandudno and policing naturally steps up to meet this increased demand.

"However, whatever time of the year it is, it is important that local residents continue to report incidents of ASB, as this enables us to respond and deal with matters quickly.

"As a local neighbourhood policing team, we aim to be visible, to work effectively with partner agencies and to tackle key priorities such as ASB and ending domestic violence that have such a negative impact on our communities."
