This has popped up online on the Llandudno notice board and others, if this is true then it is shocking. So the expenses at the current library were dodgy which is saying the least, and the one Cllr who spoke up against this was branded a trouble-maker!
The predicted costs at the Venue Cymru room a virtually non- existent, and now we find out the council are owed money at the Current Library site, and are paying for an empty office!
This is a complete shambles, its clear that regardless of anything the public say, the council will ignore. Oddly, the press don't seem interested in the new information! We are both registered at the Llandudno Library, and its a lovely place, friendly with a lovely community feel.
The new Library will lose all of that as well as the majority of its customers. An online meeting with hundreds of patrons have been very clear, if the Library moves, their custom ends, and we agree 100% with this, and will let the Welsh Government and funding department know.
@Boots Hearing Care owe the council £82K. As the council have been paying their electricity bills for use of the 3rd floor for multiple computers, telephones, high tech ear diagnosis and testing equipment etc. Matthew Chandler why has no one questioned Boots why they aren't paying up.
Who would sell an office space to Mostyn Estates just to be charged for the new tenants (Boots) electricity bills. No wonder there is no money left for Colwyn Bay it's being leeched away. Darren Millar MS
"Electricity consumption in the building has increased (almost doubled)" presumably since Boots moved their high tech equipment into their modern offices upstairs ? ..
And here are some of the sensible comments on the thread!
Maybe prompt payment by Boots would result in the Library being saved!
Does this mean the reason to move was based on a false business case?
Why not change their minds ?
I wonder if the issue is more that there is someone profiting from boots not being charged. I know if I didn’t pay my council tax there would be a court case. What could possibly convince the council to turn a blind eye?
Council incompetence run by muppets
And I get a letter saying if I’m late with council tax again I will be taken to court it’s not like I haven’t paid it what a joke
Mostyn estate own the entire street and the businesses pay rent to them annually and the council are corrupt and boots themselves are on the verge of collapse that's why they've been closing their shops but as I said the council are corrupt, if we
didn't pay our bills or council tax we'd been taken to court and if a person was unemployed and didn't pay their council tax it would be taken out of their benefits so perhaps the council should stop paying boots bills
This is the tip of iceberg, what about the land on A55 that was not fit for purpose for storage of salt for road and other buildings, unable to be used with massive leases on, there is a lot of mishandling of moneys with all councils thought out north
wales, this is the, its not my job! Its not my department, its not my what ever fault, lot, we have become a institutionalised government work force, just plodders slowly going up the ladders with longevity, not really making a difference, not even a care, long as they pick up their, massive long term pensions, and don’t let new people in to show them up for their mistakes, or anyone who has half a brain, granted there a few that try to make a difference, who are seen to make a contribution, to the local population, but there are a lot more trying to stop them, showing them up. Hats off to the ones who try, you know who you are, and so do we.
It’s ok they just put our council tax up again next year. It’s shocking how much money this council waste and lose
Local authorities are so inept this happens all over the UK due to bad management and cost of litigation
leeched away ? if the morons in the council had half a brain they wouldnt have allowed the electricity to be paid for after the sale . . . the problem is ###### simply cant count.
Its a done deal sadly thanks to our bent councillors.
