Some people describe the owner as Marmite and you either love or hate his pizzas!
We took our grandchildren for a meal at the Llandudno branch a few years ago and did not like it at all, however food is an odd thing, we all like different foods and rate things differently and to be fair some people liked it.
The sad thing here is that places keep closing and those who want to work and have a business are getting hammered from all directions.
Public houses are closing and there is a vast amounts of Hotels for sale in Llandudno!
So this closure is sad news and even sadder is the fact that the Government are doing nothing to stop this and the loss of people's jobs.
Something needs to be done urgently.
THE JOHNNY Dough's restaurant in Colwyn Bay has abruptly closed after the site became "untenable" amid rising business rates.
John Dough's Junior, on Abergele Road, opened in May 2021 as a takeaway and storage unit, joining the company's other restaurants in Llandudno and Conwy.
But the restaurant closed earlier this month, and said other delivery platforms, such as Just Eat, had made the takeaway model "untenable for independents".
The company added that "further increases in business rates on the horizon" had forced them to make the decision to close.
It sites in Llandudno and Conwy will continue trading.
A spokesperson for Johnny Dough's said: "Johnny Dough’s Junior in Colwyn Bay was originally launched as a dedicated takeaway and storage unit.
"However, third party delivery platforms such as Just Eat have made the model untenable for independents, the commission rates are simply too high and the economics don’t stack up.
"With further increases in business rates on the horizon, we’ve taken the decision to close the Colwyn Bay site."
The Bay Hop, a pub which had run weekly pizza nights with the business, said it was "sad to see them go".
In a statement on social media, the pub said: "We've just had the news confirmed that Johnny Dough's Pizza has now closed down in Colwyn Bay.
"Obviously, this means that we'll no longer be serving their pizzas on Mondays.
"We've been doing our pizza nights with Johnny Dough's for almost four years now, and while we're obviously sad to see them go, we'd like to give a massive thank you to all the amazing staff we've worked with to create something special together on a Monday night."
