Conwy councillor resigns from cabinet due to 'poor conduct'!

 

Any guesses? Sad in a way that he has been removed and was honest about it, when others have done and said some awful things but are still in situ!

A COUNTY councillor in Conwy who breached a Code of Conduct for standards in public office has resigned from the council's cabinet, an Ombudsman report has revealed.

The male councillor, who has not been named, failed to declare his membership of a political party for a period of around seven months.

The matter was reported to the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales by the councillor himself, and was considered "suggestive of a breach" of the its Code of Conduct.

The Ombudsman's report on the matter said the councillor, who it noted had co-operated fully with the investigation, had offered an apology for his actions and had resigned from the cabinet "in recognition of his poor conduct".

It said there was "no evidence" his undeclared political party membership had an impact on the decisions taken by the cabinet during that time.

The Ombudsman said it "did not condone" the member's behaviour, and that he would undertake training on the Code, "particularly in relation to personal and prejudicial interests".

An Ombudsman statement read: "The Ombudsman received a self-referral from a member of Conwy County Borough Council that he had breached the Code of Conduct.
