Veteran from Llanfairfechan celebrates his 100th birthday! Happy Birthday Sir.

What an amazing story and a true hero and brave man. No card from our King then?

Maybe he is too busy with his chosen demographic!

Who knows, But heros like this should be our priority.

I wonder what he thinks of our modern country today?

A WORLD War II veteran now residing in Llanfairfechan celebrated his 100th birthday last weekend.

David Ware, who served in the Royal Air Force for roughly four years, reached the milestone on Friday, April 17.

This was followed by a party at Llys Y Coed in Llanfairfechan, the care home where he resides, on April 18.

Born in Plymouth, Mr Ware moved to North Wales from Watford six years ago.

He flew in more than 50 types of aircraft, having joined the Royal Air Force at age 17.

Among those in attendance at his party were his daughters, Martina and Anna, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his friends and fellow veterans.

Martina Carter, one of his daughters, said: “He had a fantastic day.

“The veterans formed a guard of honour for him with their flags, which was very emotional for everybody, and the flautists played him in to the room with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.

“The drummers from the Knights of Snowdonia band also played. He was blown away with it all, and so was I.

“He became a sergeant at just age 18, which was unheard of then.”
