Rhos-on-Sea Fantastic exhibition on forgotten heroes from history

Well done to the people who did this, it looks lovely and is something we should see far more of.

As a former veteran myself, I like so many feel that what veterans have done from past to present if often forgotten, and those who do return come home not as they once were but damaged by what they see. We must always value those who fight for our country.

A new exhibition is shining a light on forgotten heroes from all walks of life.

The Heroes Exhibition is taking place at St Trillo Church, Rhos-on-Sea, from June 13 to June 20.

It celebrates the lives of many notable figures associated with the church, including a heroic officer from the Titanic, armed forces members who died during the world wars, and figures from music, entertainment, and engineering.

Some of these figures were once national or even international icons but have since faded into obscurity.

This exhibition aims to bring their stories and achievements back to the forefront of people's minds.

The free exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm each day and until 7pm on June 17 and June 18.

There will also be tours of some of the most significant graves in the churchyard each weekend and during late opening.

St Trillo Churchyard, which contains more than 2,500 graves, is still an active churchyard.

The most famous grave is that of Harold Lowe, the fifth officer on the Titanic.

Harold Lowe, born in Llanrhos, left home at 14 for a life at sea, eventually earning his Master's Certificate.

His first posting was to the RMS Titanic in 1912, where he became famous for his actions during the sinking of the "unsinkable" luxury liner.

After serving in the First World War, he continued his career at sea until retiring in 1931.

He died in his Deganwy home in 1944 and is buried at St Trillo Churchyard.

The exhibition also honours local soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the First and Second World Wars, as well as those who performed heroics and survived the wars.

Other notable figures buried at St Trillo Churchyard include Will Catlin, a nationally famous entertainer in the 1900s, John Marston, the inventor of the famous Sunbeam motorbike, and Alvin Langdon Cobden, a world-leading photographer in the early 1900s.

The stories of John Jones, a Royal Butcher from Llandudno, and John Porter, the 'Father of Colwyn Bay', are also explored, among many others.
