Judge warns Colwyn Bay beach rapist to expect long sentence!

 

Very sad news for the poor girl and I hope that this pervert goes to prison for a long time.

A MAN from Prestatyn was told to “expect a long sentence” after he admitted raping a woman on Colwyn Bay Beach.

Robert Cairns, 37, of Warren Drive, pleaded guilty to charges of rape and cannabis possession at Caernarfon Crown Court on Friday (August 14).

The offences took place in Colwyn Bay on Friday, July 17.

Cairns will be sentenced on Monday, November 9, and remains remanded in custody until then.

His barrister, Simon Killeen, said a psychological report will be compiled on Cairns, who self-harms.

“It’s not suggested the defendant is mentally ill… however, there are other matters connected with difficulties he’s faced in his life,” Mr Killeen said.

Judge Timothy Petts, presiding over Friday’s hearing, told Cairns: “The fact you’ve pleaded guilty to these offences will make a difference to your sentence.

“But the charge of rape is obviously very serious, and you can expect a long sentence.

“You’re now on the sex offenders register, but the length of time you’re on the register for will depend on the length of the sentence."
