Rhos On Sea....Horror As Llandrillo College Students Play Football With Live Bird!

There are some very sick individuals out there indeed, sadly this college does have a lot of delinquents there, who give a bad name to the great students.

Why would any decent person use a live animal in this way?

The trust who issued the following statement have written to the college as this appears not to be an isolated incident of animal cruelty at the College.

I am unaware if the RSPCA and The Police have been informed, but the College has cameras covering the grounds so I will check if it has been reported.

Well done to the student who intervened, if only all students were as decent as her.

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to Thomas. 💔
On September 11th we were contacted by one of our volunteers who also happens to be a Student at Llandrillo College in Rhos on Sea. She was in great distress at what had just happened.
She saw a group of youths using Thomas as a football of sorts passing him between each other. She called out to them to stop and the one who had him then picked Thomas up and threw him down so that he landed heavily on his side and the wing on that side.
BBryony took Thomas to our Helen who examined him. There was nothing obviously wrong externally but there was a cut to one leg so Thomas was given pain relief and antibiotics. we thought he was doing ok. He had finished his isolation period and we thought he may be ready for release at Rhos beach.
Unfortunately, not. He seemed to eat and drink ok that day but within an hour of the last time she checked on him his little body was lying cold on the floor. He had coughed up blood and what seemed to be some fleshy matter. This must have been from internal injuries caused by the kicking.
Bryony took little Thomas to Rhos beach and set him free on the waves so he could return to Gulhalla to take his place with the other gulls who no longer occupy this space.
It was not the release we hoped for. we have spoken and written to Llandrillo College to ask if we can work together to prevent such a thing from happening again. we are told abuse of gulls is common place with students throwing stones at the baby gulls who naturally hope for some food in a place of plenty. we will keep you informed as to how it goes.
Helen said Thomas was a really sweet bird.
Fly high baby ~ you are safe now 💔
